My Musings

Some would say, "Another day another dollar," yet today is more than just another day. Today is the beginning of a new year. Welcome 2007. What will this year bring, many ask. It brings an infinite number of opportunities or mistakes. It brings the opportunity to overcome insurmountable odds or fall lower than you ever have before. It brings new life. It brings death and yet for some that will be new life.

What will it bring for me I wonder?
Will it bring change at all?
Will it slide by with no changes at all?
Will I even notice the year as it passes by?
Will I accept any changes presented to me this new year?
Am I willing to adapt?
Am I willing to listen to The Holy Spirit in my life this next year or am I going to continue to listen to my personal spirit?
Am I going to be able to identify who I am or is my identity going to continued to be tied up in friends, family, profession, and things?
What are God's plans for me for this next year?
Am I going to be able to get my finances organized this year?
How about my life?
Will anything fall into place?
Am I going to be able to find out what I am to do with my life?
What is it my eternal self needs to learn this year?

Seems like I could go on forever asking questions I know none of the answers to. I know God has the answers to all these questions. Is he going to share the answers with me? Another question I do not know the answer to. I will just have to live in the belief that every circumstance that I am in is created by God and I am intended to be there so that he can work or teach me something. I will rely on The Holy Spirit to assist me in assessing each situation I am presented with. I know I need to learn to listen to The Holy Spirit and respond to life's circumstances accordingly. I am very sensitive to the fact that living and responding to things my way only brings pain and suffering. Yet after years and years of listening to self, to up and change and now listen to The Holy Spirit is not an easy task. It is not like turning on and off light switches.

I think that Colossians is going to be my book for this next year. I am seeing so many things in it that apply directly to me, here and now. They apply to the new year and the new person and the new life.

I have been really intrigued by the concept of my eternal being and all the implications of 2nd Corinthians 5. They are quite astounding. Together combined with the things I am seeing in Colossians make for a tremendous beginning for a new year. I am going to continue to delve into the intricacies surrounding the concept of my eternal being, which is housed in my physical body. I will also be making application and study of the concepts and teachings of Colossians.

So, as I said to my family and friends: "Happy New Year! From the top of Pole Hill... 9000 ft up."
